Highland Indian Association (HIA) is one of the oldest and largest non-profit grass-roots umbrella organizations. Established in 2001, the HIA represents the growing Indian diaspora in the Highlands and Islands, Scotland. Through its more than two decades of deep-rooted grass-root community engagement and enhancement initiatives, HIA has grown in tandem with the Indian diaspora while continuing to promote, safeguard, and nurture the values and culture that are vital to the Indian Scottish community.

The Highland Indian Association (HIA) enjoys a valued and ongoing relationship with the Indian High Commission and the Consul General of India based in Edinburgh. This liaison allows HIA to maintain strong diplomatic ties and ensure the needs of the Indian diaspora in the Highlands and Islands are communicated effectively at the national level.
Through this partnership, HIA benefits from the High Commission’s guidance and support on key issues affecting the Indian community, including consular services, cultural exchange programs, and bilateral relations between India and Scotland. The association also works closely with the Honorary Consul General in Edinburgh to address local concerns, support community initiatives, and foster stronger connections between the Scotland and India.
